Went here looking for plain white rice and ginger to settle down my upset stomach. It was so welcoming walking in. I ordered the rice with ginger and the waitress insisted that I try the miso soup. I declined and explained to her why I was eating so blandly. She understood and brought my order to the table. A couple minutes later she brought out a bowl of the miso soup and insisted that it would help settle down my stomach. Oh my God! It was the perfect solution to my problem. It was absolutely delicious and I'll be coming back again for more. Thank you again!

Wanted to try a new Japanese spot tonight and I am glad my wife and I came here. For being a smaller spot it's very cozy and the lighting inside is just right. Looks like it's a popular spot because it was packed but not chaotic at all. The menu is pretty large and I had a hard time deciding what I wanted because I wanted to sample everything. We ended up trying a few things though as we like to with new spots. We both got a bento boxes with karaage chicken, one black rice tuna lover roll, one hot nights roll and a side of shrimp tempura since it looked good and seemed crispy when we seen them bring it out to another table. Yes the bento boxes have shrimp and veggie tempura but I can go in some shrimp action. The shrimp tempura and veggie tempura was definitely crunchy and delicious, the karaage chicken was cooked perfect, crops outside and tender inside, it wasn't heavily seasoned which is how karaage is but yet there was enough flavor if you didn't want to dip it in the mayo they provide (pro tip: ask for extra salad dressing and add that to the mayo for a super bomb karaage dip). The two rolls were also dang good, it wasn't overly sauced and the fish to rice ratio was perfect. I'd be coming back here for sure and I'd highly recommend this to anyone in summerlin who wants to have some good Japanese food.

110% recommend... First visit here, place is small and quaint, we sat at the bar at 4:30pm Tried Cucumber Salad, Shrimp Tempura (10pc), Yellowtail Jalapeno, Salmon Carpaccio, 2x Blufin Tuna Garlic Ponzu, and Black Pink. Everything was great! Cucumber salad lacked flavor (really nothing added to the cucumber) but the fish was very fresh. The blufin was a favorite. We also got a teriyaki chicken rice bowl and miso soup to go for a friend. Total bill $130. Left stuffed. Sushi chefs were great and everything came out quickly!

I was thrilled to see they had an entire gluten free menu. All I had to do was ask for gluten free sauces on my rock and roll. It was fresh with lemon yuzu. I would get this every day of the week. My coworker devoured her avacado bomb she said it was a little smaller than the last time but she loved it the same. The garlic edamame was to die for. We will be back again for the perfect lunch. No all you can eat but the price was still reasonable.

I came back and dined at the sushi bar, enjoying myself a light, yet filling meal. I had a spicy yellowtail roll with a side of spicy garlic ponzu, and a bowl of rice with natto. I definitely over ordered though because I was too full to finish my natto and rice. The spicy yellowtail roll definitely had some heat, but it was absolutely delicious. And the natto was seasoned to perfection and included some masago on top. The true highlight of this experience was the service from Lucy. She checked in on me frequently to make sure I was doing okay and made me feel welcomed at the restaurant. This is a nice intimate spot for a solo diner like myself, and the staff is always kind and accommodating. I will be back soon!

I had to visit Tanuki one more time before 2024 ended. Best decision ever. Great food, great sake, and great people. Definitely will come back. Take a look at what I ate and try them on your next visit. Feels like I am in Japan without the expensive flight ticket!

Sushi Tanuki feels like a little slice of Japan right here at home. The atmosphere is cozy and authentic, making the whole experience special. The sushi is fresh and packed with flavor. They have a great mix of traditional options and creative dishes, but my favorite was the black rice roll--it was unique and absolutely delicious. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel welcome, whether you're a sushi pro or trying it out for the first time. If you're looking for a place that feels like Japan and serves incredible sushi, this is it!

Came to try this place out during my lunch break. It's a very small restaurant with only like 5 tables but has a very authentic feel to it. Service was good. They were attentive and ensured we always had what we needed. The food was good but unfortunately I've had better at other sushi spots. There was a tangy taste to the rolls. I would like to come back a 2nd time to confirm if this is how they always taste or if it was just a one off situation. For a quick bite it's a good spot to come to overall.

Atmosphere always comfortable and clean. It was very crowded tonight. It is one of our favorite places. The owner is so pleasant and helpful think she is recognizing us! Ann is very pleasant and great service! Now you see this time the dessert. Delicious green tea ice cream by the owner. Loved it. We had a spider roll and a chicken teriyaki bento box.
